Post 8: Media Language links with all other theories

What is media language?
Films communicate their preferred reading and narratives to their audience through particular images shown and the narration used. The writer of the film creates the story, the director realises it and the editors are left to decide on how the ideas are going to be organised in order to transmit the preferred messages to the audience.  The preferred reading is created not only through the narration used but also through a variety of micro elements such as the mise-en-scene of costume, set design, lighting and the choosen camera movement.
